A CNR (Case Number Record) is the unique identification number assigned to a case. Every District Court and High Court matter has one, and it stays the same throughout the life of the case — even if the case is transferred or renumbered.
Why the CNR is useful
It's unique — no two cases share a CNR, so there's no ambiguity.
It's the fastest way to add a case — searching by CNR returns an exact match instead of a list of possibilities.
It's the most reliable for keeping a case in sync with court records.

Using it in Gaveli
When adding a District Court or High Court case, choose the CNR search option and paste the number in. You can also find the CNR on any case you've already added, in the case's identification details.
Where to find a CNR
A CNR appears on court cause lists, case status pages, and most case documents. It's a 16-character code combining a state and establishment identifier with a sequence number and year.
