I can't find my case when searching

Search tips and using manual entry as a fallback.

If a case doesn't come up when you search to add it, try these steps before falling back to manual entry.

Check the basics

  • Right court type — make sure you chose the correct court (District, High Court, Supreme Court, or Tribunal).

  • Right location — confirm the state, district, and specific court or bench.

  • Search by CNR — if you have the CNR, use it. It's the most precise way to find a District or High Court case.

Refine a name search

  • Try the other party (petitioner vs. respondent).

  • Use a distinctive part of the name and check spelling.

Still nothing?

Some matters are very new or not yet published, so they can't be found automatically. In that case, add the case manually and maintain it yourself; if you obtain the CNR later, update the case so it can be matched and tracked. See Adding a case manually.
