Data retention for closed cases

Configure how long disposed-case data is kept before automatic deletion.

Gaveli lets your firm set how long data for disposed (closed) cases is kept before it's automatically deleted — helping you meet your own data-minimization and retention policies.

Set your retention period

  1. Go to Settings → Privacy & Data.

  2. Under Data Retention, choose how long disposed-case data should be retained after disposal.

  3. Save the policy.

How it works

  • The policy applies to cases that have been disposed — active cases are never affected.

  • Once a disposed case passes the retention period, its data is removed automatically.

  • Changing the policy applies going forward.

If you need to keep a specific closed matter longer, export it before it ages out.
